I do not claim to be listing in this book all those whose radiant lives have been recorded and who have marked history by presenting an exemplary model to Muslim women in all fields. It is neither more nor less than a humble effort that I have made – Allah is my witness – solely out of love for these women that I will mention to my Muslim sister so that she can experience their story with the knowledge that she has not been forgotten by History.

In this troubled time when Muslim women face many challenges and where everything is done to deny, erase or relativize everything that distinguishes women from men, we all need real role models from our community. Women, like us, but who have marked and written history sometimes with their ink, sometimes with their tears, sometimes with their deeds and actions and sometimes with their words and sermons, but always with faith, patience, perseverance and conviction.
