The uncreated and immutable Word of God, the object of the last divine revelation made under the seal of the Prophets, inimitable in its content as well as in its form and eloquence, the Quran continues to arouse the interest of both those who have faith in it and those who do not believe in its divine origin.

If it is true that disciplines and other objects of study are evaluated by the subjects they deal with, the Quranic sciences fully deserve the place they deserve among the many Islamic sciences.

Yet it is strange to note that there are so few works in French dealing with the sciences of the Quran! This is why we have decided to make our contribution in this field, by translating a work that is at once exhaustive, academic and accessible, written by one of the world-renowned specialists in this discipline, Dr. Musâ'id al-Tayyâr.
