The importance of Tawheed - Abd al-Mushsin al-Abbâd - Editions Al hadith

When one reads the Quran carefully and ponders it, one notices that the first commandment it dictates is the worship of Allah without partner. Similarly, one notices that the first prohibition decreed is that of polytheism . Therefore, if Allah in His Book has decided to give this theme a privileged and priority place, it is with the aim of encouraging believing servants to also pay particular attention to monotheism and its opposite, namely polytheism.

For some, this subject has become trivial and secondary. They allow themselves to neglect it and go further by denigrating those who attach importance to it. Yet, Allah does not give priority to a secondary subject. Indeed, one only has to look at the customs and traditions of many Muslims to realize that polytheistic practices are still deeply rooted in people's minds and daily lives.

Sheikh 'Abd al-Muhsin al-'Abbâd was born in 1934 in Zulfi (northwest of Riyadh) and is a prominent scholar from Medina who still teaches at the Prophet's Mosque. He is an undisputed religious authority in the holy city. When the Islamic University was founded in 1961, he became one of its first teachers before serving as vice-president of the university for six years from 1973 to 1979.
